The Technology Strategy Managing Consultant will work with clients to develop transformative strategies and actionable technology solutions aligned with business goals to achieve specific operational and financial outcomes.

Candidate Profile

Ability to understand and articulate the IT strategy and develop information technology framework and structure to support IT

Must understand and be able to manage business, data, application and technology architectures

Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical audience

Ability to collaborate, facilitate, influence and negotiate

Ability to work at CIO level and navigate complex organizational politics and motivations

Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application development and systems engineering

Knowledge of IT and SOA governance operations

Ability to build business cases and financial models (for IT)

Familiarity with one or more architectural frameworks

Strong writing skills including the ability to synthesize information into clear, concise messages both for detailed analytical reports and executive summaries

Effective verbal communication including the ability to relate well with others and ability to adapt style as needed

Ability to work independently, work with a remote team, think creatively, manage own time, and take initiative to drive projects

Ability to work from home and travel up to 60%

Responsibilities

Work with clients in workshop and interview settings to identify and develop technology strategies that can provide enhanced business value. Lead executive workshops to articulate the value of proposed technology investments to client organizations

Assist clients in the prioritization of technology process change initiatives and/or technology investments as well as developing Strategy Maps that lay out timelines for achieving related milestones

Assist clients who need to develop business cases for technology investments and/or process changes

Work with clients in workshop and interview settings to capture the functional and technical business requirements for information technology investments

Facilitate technology solution vendor evaluation, selection, and negotiation processes on behalf of clients

Develop long-term policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development and implementation and use of Information Technology within the client enterprise

Implement solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems and applications across the client enterprise to reduce costs and improve information flows. Ensures projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from each other, and business and IT strategies

Implement changes to technical standards

Leads the research, evaluation and assessment of new or enhanced technologies that could improve current systems and support overall business goals - including Cloud Computing

Identity future skill-sets and competencies needed in the IT organization to ensure that organization is prepared technically to support the architectural direction

Preferred Skills/Experience

Cross-disciplinary IT domain expertise (e.g., technology strategy, enterprise architecture, software development, program / project management, infrastructure, etc.)

Experience designing sound technology strategies and business processes

12+ years equivalent IT Management practitioner (Sr Director or VP level) and/or general technology consulting/software consulting experience

Bachelors Degree; Masters preferred

Position Location

The Managing Consultant may be based in any region of the U.S.
