External Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Director Teaching and Learning and in partnership with
Library branch management team leads all aspects of technology training for the branch system.

External Responsibilities:
Analyzes user technology needs and links instructional services to the library's mission

Keeps the training curriculum innovative, up-to-date, and flexible to incorporate new technologies and tools on a timely basis

Tests new teaching methods and launches new training classes in various locations

Cultivates teaching potential in colleagues throughout the library

Mentors and supports library staff who teach the public, and creates a collaborative environment in which staff share teaching experiences and materials

Works collaboratively to promote the program and seeks potential partners to create new instructional

Works with metrics/strategic planning office to assess the program by outcomes

Documents the activities, effectiveness, and needs of the program through formal reports and presentations

Advocates for improving instructional services through better facilities and increased support for training of library staff who teach

Builds capacity for the program by collaborating with colleagues on grants

Working closely with Digital Strategy and the Office of Learning and Development Development, contributes to the improvement of the digital user experience and
the information fluency of staff

Supervises staff who provide instructional support

Performs related duties as required

External Qualifications:
Master's degree in education, educational administration, library or information science, adult education, instructional design, or a related
MLS from an ALA-accreditedinstitution preferred

Successfully demonstrated understanding of and commitment to information literacy in general and technology and new media literacy in particular

A minimum of three years as an instructor

Demonstrated flexibility and comfort working in an organization undergoing substantial change

Demonstrated ability to experiment with new instructional services and operate in a "launch-and-learn" culture

Demonstrated leadership and staff development skills

Demonstrated knowledge of emerging technology trends

Demonstrated willingness to spend a substantial amount of time working directly with library staff and users in various library locations

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

A demonstrated ability to be an effective representative of the library to external groups

Experience managing staff preferred
