Responsibilities for this Position:
General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS) has an immediate opening for Telecommunication Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nations fundamental defense services. GDAIS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various GDAIS and client technologies. Key Responsibilities
Telecommunication Engineers analyze, design, develop and test GDAIS systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. Additional Responsibilities include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit and risk analysis; selecting systems architecture; and preparing specifications for GDAIS operating systems to ensure designs meet applicable security specifications. These individuals may also be asked to document security on both new and fielded information systems or provide accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features are considered and functioning properly.

Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDAIS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDAISs services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
6 years or more in 2 or more of the following
  • Telecommunications standards and protocols: SDH/SONET including protection schemes, ASON (auto switched optical network), ATM, MPLS/GMPLS, Ethernet, Carrier Grade Ethernet, DSL
  • Optical network technologies
  • Softswitch and VOIP technology
  • Telecommunications signaling protocols including SS7, ISDN, B-ISDN, Q2391, SDH/SONET
  • Use of test equipment such as Fireberd, Abacus, Spirent, JDSU, Sunset E1 tester.
Required
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP.
  • Experience with networking (static routing, OSPF, NAT, VLAN, etc.)
  • Computer and Network Systems Administration for Solaris, Linux, and Windows

Basic Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance GDAIS technology.

The Senior Advanced Systems Engineer position requires a bachelors degree in a specialized area, field or the equivalent and at least eight to ten years of related work experience. Applicants with a masters degree and a minimum of six to eight years of related experience are also eligible.

TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
