NCI: As a Telecommunications Technician ( Telecommunications Technician ), you will have a very important place in a telecommunications system that is pivotal to National Security. The Telecommunications Technician is a part of a team that assures communications to American units all over the globe. You will work in a dynamic team environment supporting the Network Enterprise Center (NEC) to better serve their customers IAW NEC policy. This position is located on Fort Bragg, NC.
Highlights of Responsibilities
Respond to network and telephony related trouble tickets
Install various types of cable and wire (i.e., CAT-6, T1, fiber optic) and peripheral devices IAW NEC guidance to support NIPRNET/SIPRNET infrastructure
Create cable “drops” as necessary to facilitate computer system and telephone instrument connection Troubleshoot network and telephony connections
Connect and test appropriate equipment connected as a result of cable installation
Test all equipment installations for proper operation, serviceability and workmanship
Install and configure Nortel/Avaya or equivalent VoIP instruments
Install analog and digital telephone instruments
Install Uninterrupted Power Supply Units
Install Network Switch and Digital Subscriber Line equipment and associated hardware
Configure, troubleshoot and repair Actelis DSL and Foundry network EUB switches
Perform routine preventative maintenance on Network and Telephony equipment and cabling
Active DoD Secret security clearance
Must have Security+ certification prior to start (obtained within the past 3 years)
Must have Brocade Accredited Internetworking Specialist (BAIS) certification (or obtain within 60 days of start)
Intermediate knowledge of industry standards to include American National Standards (ANSI)/Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)/Electronics Industry Alliance (EIA) Building Telecommunications Wiring Standards, National Electrical Code and IEEE 802.3 and 802.5
Intermediate experience with premise wiring (voice and data or any combination of each) and telephone installation (analog and VOIP)
Intermediate experience with FLUKE test equipment or equivalent
Preferred Education and Experience
Current BICSI Certification
Associates degree in a related discipline
Prior military service or support of government customers
