Provides superior service to members or prospective members while implementing and performing according to the established TDECU REAL standards. Processes new and existing TDECU membership, performs transactions, and suggests appropriate TDECU products and services to ensure members needs are met. Answers a variety of member inquiries and refers members to appropriate staff when necessary. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Member Service

Accepts account deposits and makes withdrawals, transfers funds, verifies signatures processes, wire transfers, and cashes checks with assigned limits.

Maintains an accurate record of all transactions.

Accepts loan, credit card, and other payments including real estate and commercial transactions.

Issues money orders, cashiers checks, travelers cheques, gift cards, and cash advances.

Educates members on TDECU services, answers questions, and directs members to appropriate department for specialized services.

Researches problems and responds to member inquiries on account status, member statements, automatic check holds, courtesy pay, and other related issues.

Performs as a notary public upon supervisor approval.

Meets production guidelines as assigned.

2. Balancing

Prepares daily settlements of teller transactions, coin tickets, consignment, and negotiable items.

Balances and audits a cash drawer, cash dispensers, travelers cheques, and gift cards on a daily basis.

3. Organizational Assistance

Assists the Teller Services Supervisor by verifying weekly cash orders and checking physical inventory from the Federal Reserve providing dual control.

Supports the Financial Service Representatives by issuing, canceling, re-pinning, and re-ordering debit and ATM cards and prepares temporary checks for members.

Provides assistance to other TDECU branches or departments as needed to answer any teller related questions.

4. Compliance

Completes a Currency Transaction Report (CTR) for cash accepted over the regulated limit.

Completes all mandatory compliance testing within designated time frames and other compliance assignments including Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Unusual Activity Reports (UAR), and Security processes.

5. Community Relations

Actively participates in community relations activities and groups to represent the Credit Union.

6. Functional: Level B

Performs and maintains established production levels.

Understands and demonstrates performance on daily branch balancing procedures including cash advance, money orders, and visa gift cards.

Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of the department, lobby, drive-thru, and receptionist / safe deposit box area.

7. Functional: Level C

Performs and maintains established production levels.

Understands and demonstrates performance on daily branch balancing procedures including cash advance, money orders, visa gift cards, and travelers cheques.

Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of the department, lobby, drive-thru, and receptionist / safe deposit box area.

Assists supervisor with Teller monthly cash audits, vault balancing, interviews, setting up Teller contests, etc.

May perform opening and closing responsibilities.

Assists with mentoring, coaching, and on the job training with less experienced tellers.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

1. Education

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Experience

Level A: May require up to one years of similar or related work experience.

Level B: One to two years experience including familiarity with member service, financial transactions, etc. is required.

Level C: Two to three years of similar or closely related work experience is required.

3. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge in cash handling procedure including counting coin and other currency.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.

Basic knowledge of relevant computer software including Internet, Intranet, typing, and office calculator.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to prioritize tasks, organize, negotiate, and make important decisions.

Ability to read and interpret data efficiently.

Basic reading and comprehension skills required.

While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to stand, walk, and sit.

An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds to perform essential position functions.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Attendance Requirements:

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. This means that the employee is required to report to work on time and must remain at work during all scheduled hours.

This position requires that face-to-face interaction in person or by telephone and e-mail with customers, clients, and vendors. As such, working onsite at the employee's assigned location is an essential function of this position. This means that the employee must report to work onsite and remain onsite during all scheduled hours.
