Non-Tenure Faculty Lecturer, American Language & Culture Program

The mission of the American Language and Culture Program (ALCP) is to provide non-native speakers of English with the linguistic, academic, social, and cultural skills necessary to successfully navigate university environments in the United States. The ALCP promotes internationalization at the University of Idaho and encourages respect for linguistic and cultural diversity on the campus and in the community.

The University of Idaho, the leading research institution and land grant University in Idaho, seeks as its next full-time faculty-lecturer of the American Language & Culture Program an experienced English for Academic Purposes (EAP) teacher to provide relevant, content-based instruction.

The faculty works with a team of full-time instructors and reports to the ALCP Manager. Full-time faculty plays a leadership role in curriculum development; instructing all major ESL skill areas; conducting authentic assessment; instructing a diverse body of students; collaborating and coordinating to develop content-based course materials; participating in placement testing; on-going program development; creating and sustaining an energized community; evaluating program procedures; and mentoring new and novice instructors.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language or Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field
Experience teaching at the university level in an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) ESL program
Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
Effective written and oral communication
Excellent organizational skills
Competent in computer skills
Knowledge of and experience in computer assisted language learning
Specific training or coursework in second language acquisition, curriculum design, and assessment
A record of involvement in the field of TESOL and related professional activities
Native-like fluency in English
Desirable Qualifications

Experience in curriculum design and development
Demonstrates ability in building and facilitating functional and effective teams
Demonstrated commitment to professional development in the field of TESOL and international education
Experience with CEA Accreditation reports
Fluency in a second language
