This position is responsible for managing the sensory testing process for Private Brands and the operation of the Home Office Sensory Lab. This position will be expected to perform additional job relate responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.
Manages ongoing sensory projects by identifying major areas of opportunity, working with internal stakeholders to understand unmet needs; addressing unmet needs with specific sensory solutions and plans and measuring outcome of specific project work; manage and plan ongoing sensory sessions; develop sensory questionnaire/ballots; develop and maintain panel list; manages staff of sensory lab.
Monitors sensory performance in effort to improve overall product quality by integrating sensory product testing results with quality testing results, customers call data and supplier development plans, coordinating with internal departments and external sources of information about product quality improvements; overseeing data collection and analysis from sensory tests; checking accuracy of information; and verifying actual performance against reported performance on a case-by-case basis; develop and communicate results of tests to internal stakeholders.
Improves quality of end products by seeking improvement opportunities to meet annual goals; putting plans in place to achieve improvements and monitoring plan execution; soliciting input from suppliers , internal stakeholders and external partners about quality improvements; assessing sensory testing improvement programs and impacts; and facilitating a correction of errors (COE)
Drives cost out of quality systems by identifying efficiency opportunities; identifying ways to align resources with areas of greatest need/risk; and monitoring improvement and unintended consequences of efficiencies on overall quality
Assures necessary specifications exist for sensory tests by working with product developers to ensure new product development specification are available and accurate; highlighting missing specifications of existing products and or processes; integrating with necessary systems and processes in product development acting on specification-related quality opportunities
Drives the execution of multiple business plans and sensory projects for Private Brands by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communication business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning
Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
5 years Food Science or Sensory experience.
