About The Port Authority
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a bi-state public agency operating some of the busiest and most important transportation links in the New York / New Jersey region including The Port Authority Trans Hudson Corporation (PATH), the primary transit link between Manhattan and New Jersey communities and suburban commuter railroads.
We have openings for Temporary Passenger Information Agents who will play a highly visible front-line customer service role at PATH terminals and stations answer customer questions and provide information about PATH service routes, station locations, and fares. They also check customer communications equipment and report malfunctions.
* High school diploma or a GED is required.
* One-year customer service experience, in a demanding environment calling for significant
interaction with the public.
* Ability to work rotating shift, (am, pm, midnight, weekends and holidays).
Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a written exam is designed to measure a candidate's knowledge in areas such as:
Applying Information: The ability to understand and utilize information provided in maps, tables and in writing to respond to specific customer questions.
- Numeric Facility - The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.
- Written Communication - The ability use correct English grammar, wording and punctuation
to clearly and accurately communicate a specific situation in a report.
Candidates who qualify on the written exam will be eligible to be considered for the next step in the evaluation process, an oral exam. The Passenger Information Agent oral exam is designed to measure the candidate's work experience/job fit and skill and ability in areas such as:
* Situational Judgment
* Problem Sensitivity
* Customer Service
* Interpersonal Relations
* Oral Communication.
Only candidates who qualify on both the written exam and oral interview will be eligible for further consideration.
Successful test candidate will be subject to comprehensive background check.
Compensation & Benefits
Temporary Passenger Information Agents are employed as a temporary employee without benefits. You will have the opportunity to apply and test for permanent positions within the PATH system. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey offers a competitive salary and a professional environment that supports development and recognizes achievement. The successful candidate will enjoy a salary of $17.89 per hour.
