Survey Research Institute (SRI)
at Cornell University is currently hiring Temporary Part-Time Staff to conduct telephone surveys for data collection. This is an ideal opportunity to gain real experience and skill development in the business fields of insurance, sales, investment banking, consulting, market research and advertising.
The successful employee in this role will:
Quickly research the project and have the ability to respond to specific questions and be considered a topic expert.
Cold call individuals and immediately engage and guide the conversation. Must be comfortable communicating on the phone e.g. ability to quickly connect with a diverse clientele in a way that is real and authentic.
Maintain a thick-skin with those you call e.g. ability to shake off difficult or negative experiences.
Develop and build upon critical skills used frequently in the world of business and leadership e.g. active listening skills with the ability to ask critical follow-up questions for clarity and ability to think quickly on your feet with an attentiveness to modify your approach to fit your audience.
Accurately record the responses to the survey.
The position will pay $10.50/hour.
This part-time position will primarily work nights and weekends, the number of hours will vary depending on business needs, and requires flexibility in scheduling. The position is not benefits eligible.
HS diploma or equivalent with 6 months experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a customer service role. Individuals are required to learn and employ all SRI interviewing protocols and be flexible in their schedules as project needs change. Must be dependable, able to learn quickly, able to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks. Must participate in training and have full knowledge of all current SRI projects and able to answer any question on each project.
Must be proficient in basic computing - data entry.
Must possess competent customer service skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to contribute in a fast-paced, team oriented environment.
Previous experience conducting surveys preferred.
Must be able to communicate well with individuals of varying backgrounds.
Must be fluent in English (other languages a plus).
