The Tennis Pro will be responsible for teaching private, semi-private, and group lessons to children and adults. He/She must have flexibility with scheduling needs and be able to teach during club’s hours of operation. The Tennis Pro is responsible to ensure the safety of all participants and protect them from harm. Under the direction of the Tennis Director, the Tennis Pro teaches tennis lessons in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization. The Pro must have a complete understanding of the Tennis Program as well as an understanding of the goals of the individuals involved in the program. The Pro must have current US Tennis Association certification as well as certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid. He/she is also responsible for the safe and clean operation of indoor and outdoor tennis areas. The ideal candidate has a college degree, has two to three years of experience as a Tennis Pro, prior competitive tennis experience, exhibits strong leadership qualities, and understands customer satisfaction.
The following is a representative list of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position:
-- Teaching and solicit junior and adult clinics, private lessons including Cardio Tennis, Adult/ Junior Practices, Summer Camp and social events.
-- Teach individual and group tennis lessons to members
-- Instruct sessions in accordance with the policies to assure safe, effective, and fun clinics/classes for all participants
-- Current certification by US Tennis Association
-- Maintain current, CPR, AED and First Aid certifications
-- Arrive to work in a timely manner to ensure that areas are in good running order
-- Ensure that youth clinics are not left unsupervised
-- Regularly check equipment for necessary repair or replacement
-- Notify tennis players of any potential risk factors and protect them from potential dangers (weather hazards)
-- Ensure fair practice and tennis match experiences
-- Know and understand emergency procedures
-- Set up youth tennis match schedule and work with parents committee in securing volunteers
-- Supervise Home matches for youth
-- Ensure all equipment used during practice and/or matches are stored properly following the events
-- Coordinate dates and times for tennis practices, matches and events with the Tennis Director that will not conflict with member services
-- Assure appropriate records are available: waiver of Release of Liability, Medical History, parent permission etc.
