Teradata Managed Services assumes broad operational responsibility for a customer’s Teradata data warehouse environment under contracted Service Level Agreements, transferring service accountability and technology control to our experts when there is no client owned support function, or a client needs to supplement his own staff. There are multiple DBA areas of specialization, including infrastructure, data integration (ETL) management, and Analytical Application Administration, and positions include both individual contributor DBA’s as well as DBA Team Leaders with responsibility for overall co-ordination and technical delivery within a customer

Engagements typically last from one to three years or longer. Managed Services DBA Team Leaders requires specialized skills in understanding the architecture, design and operational aspects of Teradata warehouses, including extensive knowledge of client applications, data models and knowledge of Teradata tools and utilities used for administration and performance management of the warehouse environment. Candidates for this position must have an intensive focus and knowledge of process quality and process control disciplines, and be able to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the client organization.

Summary Description:
The Managed Services DBA Team Leader is a Teradata trained Consultant with a proven track record of Managed Services engagements or a history of successful employment and escalating responsibilities within a Teradata customer environment . The DBA Team leader will work in an operations management lead role and lead a team of DBA’s, including both onshore and remote offshore resources operating from a Managed Services delivery center in either Mumbai or Pune, India .

Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Ensure the smooth performance of the Teradata production, test and development environments under management, through proactive management and recommendations for operational optimization.
  • Ensure that the Teradata Environment supports the customer’s goals and objectives, incompliance with a defined Statement of Work and associated Service Level Agreement.
  • Provide periodic reporting and presentations to management on Managed Services initiatives and results.
  • Facilitate the relationships between the customer, sales team, Global Consulting Center (GCC) and Teradata Americas Call Center (TACC), and Teradata Engineering (software and hardware). You will utilize these relationships to provide account leadership, strategic direction, maximize system availability, customer satisfaction and site team associate satisfaction in the most cost effective manner.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
o 8 plus years experience in computer technology or related fields

o Knowledge of data warehousing including active enterprise intelligence

and replication techniques

o Must have Teradata experience working as a production infrastructure,

application or development DBA as well as prior team leader experience

o BS/BA degree in Business Technology, Computer Science, or

Management with advanced degrees desirable in Operations

Management or Process Quality disciplines. Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered.

o Teradata Certification; Master's Level preferred

o Excellent problem solving skills with demonstrated experience managing

and resolving work requests, change requests, and incidents

o Demonstrated knowledge of Teradata tools and utilities, specifically:

Preferred Requirements:
Preferred requirements include knowledge of the specific customer architecture, applications and operational practices and policies and client specific tools including systems and tools for Incident Management , Change Management, and Problem Management. This experience is typically gained through working as an individual contributor within the client Managed Services team or as a former employee for the client company.

  • Experience in Host software (MVS, VM etc)
  • Advance knowledge of Teradata, UNIX, LINUX, NT, mainframe operating systems (VM/MVS, etc.)
  • System Performance tuning and capacity planning experience, including production and interpretation of PMCP Reports
  • SQL tuning and performance optimization
  • Expert knowledge of Teradata Database tools including active warehousing and replication tools
  • Experience administering third party ETL tools and utilities
  • Experience administering third party BI tools
  • Backup, Archive, and Restore Administration and Scripting, including
Tivoli, or Veritas for Teradata

  • Project Management or Implementation Management experience
