The nationally-ranked Fort Worth Zoo has an intern position available for summer 2013 in our Ectotherms Department. Dates are flexible to meet academic calendars, but require a minimum ten-week commitment (400 hours). Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Some college level courses in a related biological field is preferred, but not mandatory. The Ectotherms Intern will be provided with valuable hands-on experience working directly with a diverse collection of terrestrial and aquatic cold-blooded animals. The Intern will aid staff in providing animal care, monitoring animal health, maintaining cleanliness of animal areas, completing minor exhibit modifications, minor field work, data collection and analyses. The Intern may also provide public interpretation in both formal and informal presentations. Candidate should be able to lift 50 pounds; this position may require other physical demands such as bending, stretching, climbing, etc.; working in extreme weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.) This position is for a 40 hours/week at $7.25/hr. and requires a drug screen and background check.
