Under limited supervision, applies professional expertise to activities and projects for the Georgia Student Assessment Program with an emphasis on development of formative assessment resources. Develops, coordinates and evaluates work plans, procedures, documents, and program activities for the development and implementation of formative assessment resources as proposed in Georgia’s Race to the Top application. Oversees and directs item development activities, including ancillary materials such as scoring rubrics and identification of student exemplars. Ensures curricular alignment. Develops, coordinates, and implements an assessment literacy professional learning course.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in education, educational measurement/research, psychology, or a related field; two years professional work experience in assessment or curriculum development and implementation; demonstrated knowledge and practice in standards-based teaching and learning, including in-depth understanding of formative assessment practices; and work experience in a K-12 leadership capacity, such as mentoring, serving as academic coach, lead teacher, or department head. Note - Doctorate-level coursework in educational measurement/research, psychology, or a related field may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
System and/or school experience in K-12 education
Experienced in middle and/or high school mathematics instruction
Experience in contract management
Experience in teaching or working with adult learners
Experience in developing and delivering web-based tools
Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders
Education Specialist or higher degree
