This position requires working with a multilingual community. The successful candidate will be required to pass a basic proficiency Spanish/English language examination assessing the following skills: oral communication, reading comprehension, and interpreting.

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Victim Assistance and Sexual Assault Program, is seeking a full-time bilingual, English/Spanish Therapist to provide counseling services to victims of sexual assault and other crimes. The position provides assessment, crisis intervention, and ongoing clinical services to traumatized victims of general crimes, rape, sexual assault and other violent crime and family members of homicide victims. The program requires this position to work two evenings per week and at times travel to other sites to deliver clinical services.

The position(s) may be filled as Therapist I (grade 23). The salary range for Therapist I , grade 23, is $51,598 - $85,463 ($24.81 - $41.09/hr.) Note: A Therapist I position provides opportunity for non-competitive promotion to Therapist II, grade 24.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field.
Experience: One (1) year post licensure professional clinical counseling experience and licensure.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Basic proficiency in the Spanish/English languages is required. Equivalency does not apply.

If underfilled at the THERAPIST I, grade 23 : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field and licensure. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

LICENSURE (applies to Therapist I and II levels) : EMPLOYEES IN THIS CLASS HAVE A MANDATORY LICENSURE REQUIREMENT, AS CITED IN "COMAR" WHICH CONTAINS REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE PRACTICE OF CLINICAL COUNSELING/PSYCHOTHERAPY. ONE OF THE FOLLOWING LICENSES, ISSUED BY THE STATE OF MARYLAND, MUST BE HELD AND MAINTAINED BY THE EMPLOYEE:
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT) Licensed Clinical Alcohol Drug Counselor (LCADC) Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSW-C) Certification as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse/Psychiatric Mental Health (APRN-PMH) Licensed Psychologist

Selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a medical examination and drug/alcohol screening test prior to appointment. Preferred Criteria
Resume must include information specific to the preferred criteria listed below. Make sure that your resume references your knowledge, skills, and abilities as they relate to the preferred criteria. Ideally, the preferred criteria should be addressed in a separate section in your resume. One (1) year of post licensure experience providing crisis counseling and crime victim counseling primarily to Spanish speaking community;
One (1) year of post licensure experience providing individual and family therapeutic counseling services primarily to victims of sexual assault in the Spanish speaking community.

All applicants will be reviewed to determine whether or not they meet minimum qualifications for the position. All applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be reviewed and rated based on the Preferred Criteria. Based on the results of Preferred Criteria review/rating, applicants will be rated either "Qualified" or "Well Qualified." Applicants who are rated "Well Qualified" may be considered for an interview.
