Support community tobacco control needs by conducting compliance assessments and inspections of formal (legislated) tobacco control policies and laws in a variety of settings, including, but not limited to, tobacco retail outlets and establishments with food/beverage service licensure.

Essential Duties:

This position primarily monitors and inspects establishments to ensure practices that support the maintenance of compliance with the federal Family Smoking Prevention and Control Act but may also monitor compliance with local and state tobacco control laws. This position uses a variety of strategies to conduct needed educational interventions and presentations to increase retailer compliance. Working with other organizations, including government and law enforcement agencies, this position participates in a variety of enforcement activities to remediate violations. Work includes recruiting, training and supervising paid and/or volunteer staff to assist with compliance assessments and investigations. Work also includes collecting and documenting evidence procured during investigations, writing investigative reports and providing testimony during court proceedings when needed. Data collected related to assessments and investigations may be used to inform tobacco control program development.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Community Health, Public Health, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Social or Behaviorl Sciences or a directly related field. A combination of experience and education may be considered if the Bachelor's degree is not in a related field of study.

Must have at least one year experience managing & supervising youth and/or volunteers.

Offer of employment contingent on criminal history, MVR check and education verification.

Special Requirements:

Ongoing employment is contingent upon the applicant's ability to succesfully complete and pass a Level 5 Public Trust - Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) and receive commissioned officer credentials through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
