Evaluates and compares existing company benefits, compensation and wellness plans/programs with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys and other sources of information. Makes recommendations for new plans/programs or the modifying of existing plans/programs to enhance organizations competitive position in the market.
In collaboration with VP and other members of management, solicits insurance companies for quotations. Evaluates quotes and makes recommendations to management. Develops company cost information for new plans and makes recommendations to management concerning sharing of cost between employer and employee.
Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instructs insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefit program. Ensures prompt and accurate compliance.
Keeps apprised of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to benefits, compensation and wellness in order to ensure company compliance. Ensures the preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws and reports necessary or suggested changes to management.
Advises and counsels management and employees on existing benefits, compensation and wellness programs. Administers all programs, ensuring the proper enrollment, transition or termination based on employment status or qualifying event, including the proper administration of COBRA and proper portability of certain benefits.
Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution. Maintains contact in person, and by phone or mail, with hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
Collaborates with HCMS Manager and other members of the HR staff to maximize the automation of benefit, compensation and wellness administration into streamlined and efficient processes.
In coordination with internal and external stakeholders, develops, manages and maintains the organizations wellness program, including, but not limited to, enrollment, events, classes and rewards.
Responsible for completing NYS DOL Unemployment Insurance documents, providing disciplinary documentation to vendor representing healthcare system and serving as liaison between vendor and management in scheduling representation at hearings as needed.
Develops, and maintains a competitive compensation structure. Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices, and recommends revisions which are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends and organizational objectives. Monitors internal pay practices and recommends changes to ensure fair and consistent compensation administration.
- Bachelors in Human Resources or a related field required, Mastersin Human Resources or a related field preferred
- Excellent written, and verbal communication, critical thinking skills, ability to provide excellent internal customer service and solve problems, analytical and critical thinking skills a must. Strong project management experience a plus.
- Seven (7) plus years in a leadership/management role in Benefits and/or Compensation administration, wellness experience a plus PHR, SPHR, Benefit and/or Compensation certifications preferred
