This position manages the trade finance function related primarily to Noble Group's energy (oil liquids, gas, power, and related products) trading platform. Noble Group is a multinational firm, engaged in Commodity supply chain management. As part of the US Treasury Team, the Trade Finance Manager will be supporting the commodity trading desk in providing: review and issuance of risk mitigation instruments and solutions including documentary and standby letters of credit as well as bid and performance bonds. An important part of the job function will require daily interaction with a wide number of financial institutions in North America and corresponding negotiations and deal allocation with these lenders. The role also requires partnering with the Commercial Desk, Treasury, Credit, and Accounting departments to ensure compliance to global policies. The Trade Finance Manager will particularly need to work closely with the traders to enhance the commercial value of the business, while remaining independent from a control point of view.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated professional experience in the area of Trade Finance and will have a thorough understanding of key trade finance instruments and markets to which the commercial teams have exposure. The candidate needs to have a strong appreciation of risk and credit management and deliver mitigants across a diverse range of activities in commodity trading. Knowledge of commodity markets and activities, as well as logistical and shipping terms will improve the candidate’s ability to make a significant contribution. Responsibiities will include:

Issuing a high volume of standby and documentary L / C’s

Reviewing and coordinating presentations against documentary L/Cs with the bank

Interacting on a daily basis with: Operations, Schedulers, Credit, Outside Counterparties,and other Noble offices

Negotiating with financial institutions

Ensuring adherence to contractual terms and credit policies

Reporting accurately using Treasury Management and trade finance systems

Forecasting the need for Letters of Credit (L / C) by commodity group

Maintaining historic data for each L / C

Coordinating with other Noble offices on as needed basis

Other related and ad hoc duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Finance from an accredited college or University.

Currently hold a Senior to Middle Management Trade Finance position at either a bank or a commodity trading house

Required Skills

Demonstrated leaderships skills in managing a trade finance function

Strong Business Acumen and commercial sensitivity to support an ability to articulate the Group's corporate views

Expertise in Trade Finance and Letters of Credit

Excellent negotiation skills

Strong written and oral communication skills

Proficiency in excel including ability to use pivot tables

Ability to speak and read Spanish a plus

Multitask-ability to handle multiple transactions simultaneously

Creative and analytical problem solving approach

Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative team player

Strong organizational skills and detail-orientation

Required Experience

A Minimum of 5 to 7 Years of similar experience

Professional experience (preferably with a bank or trading house) and demonstrated understanding of Trade Finance instruments and global markets

Strong knowledge and appreciation of risk/credit mitigation across a diverse range of activities in commodity trading and a working knowledge if INCOterms

Knowledge of commodity markets logistical and shipping activities preferred

Technical knowledge of trade finance systems and software required (knowledge of Bolero is a plus)
