Responsibilities:

SUMMARY

Assists Traffic Coordinator in requisitioning transportation from freight carriers by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reads shipping orders and process shipping documents, revise packing lists and erection envelopes; send notices to shipping OKC. Call customer when back orders are ready to ship. Process back orders.

Trace shipments; acquire freight rates for customers and the customer service department.

Coordinate COD shipments with Customer Service and Credit departments

Contacts carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for loading and unloading products.

Update backlog, jobs billed not shipped, Star plant report on In Touch, Shortage Report, load utilization, freight report, OTM, Tranz Act report.

Enter information on loading and shipping report to process billing information to enable invoicing. Enter information on Master Schedule.

Annotates shipping orders to inform shipping department of loading location and time of loading date and method of transportation.

Performs other clerical tasks such as typing correspondence, and keeping files.

Keep office and work area in a clean and orderly condition and notify supervisor concerning the need for repairs.

Provide back up for Traffic Coordinator.

Unique and Special projects as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of and previous experience with computers and spreadsheets.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to work with people, treating them with dignity and respect. Tact, honesty candor, good communication and listening skills are required traits.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
