High school diploma with additional coursework in transportation, logistics or related field preferred.
Experience / Skills / Other Requirements:
1 to 3 years in transportation or logistics with ability to handle problem resolution in timely manner.
Typing and functional knowledge of personal computers with a comfort level to work in a multiple screen environment.
Word, Excel, Outlook knowledge with strong emphasis on Excel.
Able to work well in a team environment as well as individually.
Candidate will work in a dock setting.
Understand telecom handling requirements.
Coordinate with selected transportation service providers to ensure prioritized and timely arrival, loading, and departure of freight to destination.
Recommend shipment consolidation options to ensure efficiency and cost savings.
Proactively work with transportation and shipping teams to identify shipments at risk of not meeting delivery expectations based on mode, service level, miles, and equipment type.
Work with transportation service providers on shipment recoveries as needed.
Report, monitor and analyze carrier performance to ensure compliance with service metrics.
Utilize computer systems and software to track shipments.
Manage trailer equipment inventory for company and drop trailer service providers.
Maintain daily check-in and check-out driver logs.
The Traffic Coordinator must provide the client with the best overall levels of service, meet and exceed the established goals for on-time pick-up and delivery. Responsibilities may include, identify areas to improve service levels, problem resolution, proactive approach with service provider. This position requires a background in logistics / transportation.
