Trident has an opening for a relief Traffic Coordinator in the Logistics Department, based at the corporate headquarters in Seattle, WA. This position coordinates the transport of raw materials to processing and production facilities and the shipment of product from departments to customers, warehouses, or other storage facilities. Additional work hours are frequent and often unscheduled.

Essential Functions

Provides backup for domestic, to/from Alaska, and the import/export groups within the Logistics department.

Determines most efficient and economical routing and mode of transportation for materials.

Directs scheduling of shipments and notifies concerned departments or customers of arrival dates.

Prepares documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.

Contacts carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.

Initiates investigations into causes of damages or shortages in consignments or overcharges for freight or insurance.

Computes amounts, such as space available, and shipping, storage, and demurrage charges, using calculator or price list.

Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.

Additional Responsibilities

Recommends changes to improve the efficiency of traffic department.

Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent customer relations skills with both internal and external customers are essential.

Strong interpersonal skills, including effective listening skills; an ability to work well with others is required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with multiple deadlines.

Attention to detail and accuracy critical to essential responsibilities.

Previous transportation/warehouse environment experience a plus.
