Skilled work in connection with the design and fabrication of traffic signs and other signs or decals.

Examples Of Essential Duties:
Incumbent performs technical work using a micro-computer to design layouts of signs and graphics. The micro-computer is also utilized in the fabrication of the sign or graphic decal. Traffic signs must conform to Local, State and Federal requirements and specifications. Work also involves some drafting of letters, silk screening and manual sign fabrication. Prepares and uses processing screens and stencils for sign production. Operates and maintains die making machines and builds screens for silk screening. Operates various equipment and prepares large metal sheets for sign fabrication. The equipment used includes: large cutting shear, a punch press, a drill and a corner rounder. Makes photographic and computer generated silk screens and maintains files of screens on hand for use.

Typical Qualifications:
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of related work experience. International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I Signs and Markings certificate is required. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and to stand for extended periods of time. Possession of a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Supplemental Information:
Prefer IMSA Level II Signs and Markings. Prefer courses in letter drafting.

Requires extensive knowledge of guidelines and standards used in sign preparation. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices applied in the laying out and design of signs and equipment used. Thorough knowledge of the characteristics and uses of the various kinds of paints and other materials used in this work. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Work Hours and Days Monday - Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
