This position performs several job functions under the supervision of the Pump & Motor Maintenance Superintendent and Master Electrician. Generally this employee is responsible for technical and maintenance support to the City’s traffic signal system.|
•Basic knowledge of electronics, signal preemption devices, traffic signal systems, traffic control devices, and wireless communication systems.
•Intermediate knowledge of computer software and programs.
•Basic computer skills and programming traffic signal controllers systems.
•Knowledge to diagnose electrical control problems in traffic signals.
•Knowledge of control panel troubleshooting.
•Intermediate ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias.
•Intermediate ability to deal with systems of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement.
•Intermediate ability to write reports; prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
•Must lift weights of up to 100 pounds.
•Ability to stand, stoop, kneel or sit for long periods of time.
•Able to climb in and out of confined areas and have the ability to climb heights greater than 100 feet.
•Knowledge and ability to operate light construction equipment, and bucket truck.
•Must utilize independent judgment and decision making abilities as necessary.
•Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a team environment, and with minimal supervision.
•Professional attitude, tact and courtesy necessary to deal with internal and external customers.
•Ability to work as many hours needed to get the work assigned completed.
•Ability to understand engineer’s drawings.
•Ability to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions.
•Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
•Ability to obtain licenses/certifications to perform work assignments.
•Ability to respond during an emergency when requested.
•Ability to understand and follow City of Conroe and Departmental policies and procedures.
•Available 24 hours on-call every other week.
