Install pressure vessels (tubes) onto trailers, skids and ground storage units. Assemble and fit metal
doors and complete finish detail work such as caulking, paint touch up, decal and signage application
Perform trailer repair and light welding repair of Tube Trailers.
Assemble steel pressure tubes, single tube to twelve tube container systems (trailers, skids).
Tubes can be 6’ to 40’ lengths.
Handle air valves, caulk, metal flanges, nuts, bolts, lubricants, primer and paint.
Low pressure nitrogen used to purge and test tubes
May be required to work with brake fluid if installing brake systems.
Verify numbers stamped on tubes to be assembled into units.
Cleans and prepares surface to be painted
May apply masking tape over parts or areas that are not to be painted, or for special two-tone paint jobs
Coats some area by hand with brushes and rollers
Remove plugs from threaded tube necks, clean threads with power wire brush, lubricate threads and install mounting flange.
Record mounting sequence and location of tubes on orientation form .
Secure tube and lift into place using overhead crane, position tubes and align mounting holes, secure with nuts and bolts. May have to reposition tubes for secure fit on trailers/skids.
Connect hose couplings and add low pressure nitrogen to tubes
Pin tubes to secure. Wrap and tape bull plugs for final painting
Mark locations for data plates, drill and secure.
Fit and assemble metal door frames and doors.
May be certified to install 12 volt electrical wiring/lamps, air brake systems, suspensions and mount tires on trailers
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Ability to read/write and comprehend simple instructions.
Certification in overhead Crane operation and safety inspection and Hazmat.
May be certified in electrical systems and trailer suspension installation.
