The Environmental Health and Safety Department (EH&S) has an exciting opportunity for a Training Specialist, to support various Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training and awareness programs related to laboratory, office, and the general occupational safety of the greater ASU community. We are looking for a team member who shares our commitment and demonstrates professional skills.
-Under general to minimal direction, design, develop and deliver engaging, interactive and instructionally sound materials that meet the learning needs of the various learning styles of the audience related to occupational health and safety topics.
-Recommends effective and creative uses of technology to enhance instruction and creates new learning environments.
-Conducts needs analysis and creates design options or strategies which result in appropriate training solutions.
-Works with department personnel and other safety experts to understand subject matter for the development of course content.
-Instructs diverse audiences in a classroom setting using tools and techniques to create an effective learning environment.
-Develops and delivers web-based, multimedia and traditional instructional components/courses with the use of appropriate graphics and courseware.
-Selects and/or develops teaching aids such as online documentation, training handbooks, job aids, demonstration models, multimedia audiovisual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
-Uses application software such as database management systems for tracking and reporting purposes.
-Maintains and manages attendance records and produce regular reports and generate attendance certificates for participants.
-Assists with the development, modification and updates of program curriculum and/or content and materials. Develops program performance and learning objectives to provide a standard against which program content/curriculum and delivery may be measured for effectiveness of training.
-Selects or determines appropriate learning resources, training programs and delivery methods and techniques to meet identified needs of individuals and groups.
-Identifies and prioritizes training needs, programs or strategies in order to offer high quality training and state of the art instructional and measurement techniques and subject matter to ensure training efforts are maximized. Develops additional research instruments, questionnaires or surveys.
-Will keep current on new or emerging instructional design and development methods.
-Will assist faculty, staff and students on recommended training options and access to them, based on job function or need.
-May represent the department at meetings and events.
-Travel to all four ASU campuses as needed, although the position will be based at ASU"s Tempe campus.
-Other duties as assigned.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
Bachelo's degree in business, public administration, instructional design/technology, or social and behavioral science or related field, and three (3) years training and development experience, OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Experience designing and delivering classroom and online courses; developing training for adult audiences; using Blackboard, Adobe products, and other online media training; using software/web based tools; creating training materials (i.e., courses, handbooks, job aids, and computer tutorials); establishing and meeting deadlines; working as part of a team; conducting needs analysis; assessing course effectiveness.
