Training and Instruction Manager
Seeking Passionate Instructional Leaders!
TNTP seeks full-time Training and Instruction Managers to support New Teacher Effectiveness programs in Tennessee. Multiple opportunities are available, based in Memphis, Nashville, or from a home office anywhere in the U.S. Candidates will have an opportunity to specify their location preferences on their application. The start date for these positions will vary and may be negotiable for the right candidate.
Who We Are
TNTP strives to end the injustice of educational inequality by providing excellent teachers to the students who need them most and by advancing policies and practices that ensure effective teaching in every classroom. A national nonprofit organization founded by teachers, TNTP is driven by the knowledge that effective teachers have a greater impact on student achievement than any other school factor. In response, TNTP develops customized programs and policy interventions that enable education leaders to find, develop and keep great teachers.
Memphis Teaching Fellows and Nashville Teaching Fellows give outstanding professionals and recent college graduates the opportunity to improve the odds for kids by becoming teachers committed to raising student achievement in the classrooms that need them most. Next year, Teaching Fellows programs will provide Tennessee’s two biggest urban school districts with more than 175 high quality teachers concentrated in high-need subject areas such as math, science, and Spanish. For more information, please visit www.memphisteachingfellows.org and www.nashvilleteachingfellows.org .
This year, TNTP is also partnering with the Tennessee Department of Education to provide training in classroom management and lesson planning to new Career and Technology teachers who are entering the profession from their field of expertise. This biannual week-long training will provide these new teachers with the instructional foundation they need to be successful in their first year of teaching.
Who We Want
TNTP pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in public education every day, and we seek candidates who share our vision of ending educational inequality. Our employees are bright, dynamic, and dedicated to overcoming incredible challenges in order to achieve remarkable results. More than a job, working at TNTP is a commitment. Every job is essential, and every employee’s contributions and ideas are integral to our success.
Training and Instruction Managers ensure that Teaching Fellows programs develop their teachers into the most effective first-year teachers in Tennessee’s urban schools by preparing and executing rigorous pre-service training programs in the summer, proactively managing new teacher performance through active coaching of first-year teachers in the classroom, and providing teachers with clear, direct feedback. Both positions offer a phenomenal opportunity to develop staff management experience as well; the Training and Instruction Managers will hire, train, and manage a team of seasonal staff members who work as coaches and instructors throughout the summer training and the school year.
One Training and Instruction Manager will also oversee TNTP’s work with the Department of Education, and will lead the implementation of a comprehensive, rigorous training to new career and technology teachers to set them up for success from their first day in the classroom by customizing curriculum, hiring and training part-time staff, and coordinating with our clients in the state to implement this week-long training effectively.
We are looking for experienced educators who have a clear understanding of effective instruction, are deeply committed to excellence in Tennessee schools, passionate about rapidly developing new teachers, and committed to inspiring and leading others towards strong outcomes for Tennessee students. This is an incredible opportunity to have a profound impact on the preparation and development of first-year teachers who will be changing lives and the future in Tennessee – every day.
