The Translator is responsible for translating from English to French, and on occasion from French to English, external and internal corporate communications in a timely and accurate fashion, while ensuring brand integrity and meaning integrity in all materials, in accordance with translation and IT industries standards and Hartco terminology and policies.


Translate, with minimal supervision, high-profile and confidential documents of a delicate nature

Control the quality of French texts produced by external and internal resources as it relates to form and content, including grammar, clarity, conciseness, accuracy, consistency of terminology, and accordance with industry standards and Hartco terminology

Conduct necessary terminology and documentary research and contribute to the team's terminology database

Ensure consistency company-wide

Provide ongoing focus on quality, efficiency, and timely completion of projects and assignments

Use computer-assisted translation and terminology software when applicable

Act as a corporate resource for questions related to translation and French language

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and colleagues

Work in an environment where deadlines are very tight and expectations are high

Qualifications and Requirements

University degree in translation at the undergraduate or graduate level

At least 5 years of relevant experience in translation, preferably in the IT industry

Flawless command of the French language and excellent understanding of the English language

Superior written and verbal communication skills in both official languages

Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision

High level of efficiency, autonomy, and thoroughness

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to prioritize projects in a fast-paced environment

Ability to multi-task and to work efficiently under pressure

Strong collaboration skills, ability to work effectively with people at various levels of the organization

Professionalism and a strong client focus

Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Powerpoint, and Excel

Good understanding of the information and communication technologies industry

Experience of computer-assisted translation and terminology softwares an asset

Preferably a member of the OTTIAQ
