The successful candidate will be able to provide technical, engineering, and analytical support to help achieve client strategic goals, including transmission planning, transmission congestion rights valuation, reliability analysis and generation asset valuation and interconnection support.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform data validation for power flow, short circuit, transient stability and production cost programs to ensure that regional plans and client facilities are properly represented
Simulate impacts of transmission and generation options on client load, generation and transmission rights portfolios using power flow and production costing tools
Conduct data mining on day-ahead and real-time market data from various energy markets to discern trends and assist in making recommendations on future transmission rights allocation strategies
Develop familiarity with NERC Compliance Standards related to transmission system modeling and planning, facility interconnection requirements, and be able to review client evidence to assess compliance and make recommendations for changes in policies, guidelines and procedures
Identify areas in current information gathering, data validation and mining operations, where efficiencies can be gained, develop and implement solutions to streamline processes to reduce time requirements and improve reporting of critical information
Research regional transmission organization issues to support stakeholder representation activities
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required. Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering focus preferred.
Engineer – Minimum of two (2) years’: experience required. One year with network modeling and software tools such as PSS/E or PSS/MUST preferred. One year in data management, market analysis, planning or settlements preferred. Utility experience preferred.
