Purpose of the job:|
Provide safe and cost effective outgoing and incoming transportation across all modes of transportation. Coordinate shipment with carriers, audit freight bills, prepare, negotiate, and monitor claims/freight rates/carrier penalties.
Provide customer service support to the entire company to meet each departments inbound and outbound service requirements.
Work with Project management, Purchasing, warehousing to resolve issues and solve problems regarding transportation.
Provide analysis of current transportation practices to determine cost improvement opportunities.
Provide the necessary freight analysis and decision support systems for other functional areas.
Using the freight payable system, establish freight payment rules and make sure that payment is applied to the correct G/L account.
Work with Accounting on freight accruals and other journal entries impacting Logistics.
Develop, format and publish weekly and monthly key performance indicators related to freight and freight related services and measures.
Summarize and analyze key transportation metrics on a daily/weekly basis.
Identify areas of opportunity to cut cost without jeopardizing service.
Create carrier performance report cards (scorecards) for business review.
Compile and analyze historical shipping information to monitor trends and help develop bid practices.
Complete the daily routing process to accomplish the highest transportation service level at the lowest possible cost through carrier selection.
Monitor the execution of carrier pickups and deliveries throughout the domestic inbound network and ensure the performance indicators are being met.
Provide monthly status reports summarizing freight claims and shipping/receiving violations paid and outstanding.
Lane analysis required to select most appropriate mode
Negotiate rates as needed with contract carriers.
Negotiate freight claims for goods damaged in transit.
Negotiate a penalty procedure for carriers for non-compliance with DRC shipping standards and requests.
Update shipping guides as needed
Execute monthly key performance indicators.
Audit carrier invoices for accuracy and contract compliance.
Resolve service failures and help implement processes for continual improvement.
Create reports and reporting mechanisms to monitor and control all aspects of the supply chain to report logistics costs, service standards, and transport plan throughout the supply chain.
