NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED : This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
This position is located in the Supply and Services Division, Transportation Branch, USP&FO. Its purpose is to assist in the operation of the Traffic Management program and provide assistance on all matters relating to commercial movement of equipment, supplies, and personnel for both peacetime and wartime.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Excepted Service Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (NTE E7/SFC)
WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (NTE E7/SFC) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army and Air National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (NTE E7/SFC), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
MILITARY CRITERIA: Applicant must be qualified and eligible for award of an MOS as follows: CMF: 91; MOS: 36B, 51C, 74B, 88M, 88N, 89A, 89B, 92A, 92F, 92G, 92Y
MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: Applicant selected for this military technician position must occupy a military assignment in the Virginia Army National Guard that ensures proper grade, unit, and MOS prior to placement. KEY REQUIREMENTS

Must meet the education/specialized experience--See Qualifications Section DUTIES:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Recognizes, isolates, and resolves specific and general problems relating to proper utilization of common transportation services. Selects modes of transportation and routing to obtain most efficient and economical service to the government in accordance with established policies and regulations. Participates in the development of procedures and studies on a variety of one-time movements, special cargo activities and repetitive high volume operations. Receives requests for outbound Government Bills of Lading. Initiates and types documents for both foreign and domestic shipments. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience, education, or training interpreting, explaining, and/or applying basic rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of a transportation program. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 12 months experience, education, or training obtaining and interpreting information. Experience organizing and developing clear and concise written communication. Experience applying directives and regulations governing transportation of personnel, cargo or freight.
REMARKS : Must become HAZMAT certified IAW 49 CFR
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or the equivalent may be substituted for 3 months of specialized experience. Education in schools above the high school level may be substituted for experience on the basis of one academic year of study (i.e., 36 weeks of substantially full-time study, or 30 semester hours, or the equivalent) for 12 months of the required experience. For experience required in excess of 24 months, education in schools above the high school level may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of education for six months of experience.
