The Transportation Data and System Analyst is responsible for developing, maintaining, understanding and interpreting reporting needs for CTL and client Business Units. The role is expected to extract, validate and analyze data to identify improvements and innovative solutions for CTL, its partners and client BU’s as well as to improve existing reports and develop new reports. This role must also understand Transportation data, systems, associated business processes, and their impact on development and sustainment of reports. Ensures that development requests are in alignment with CTL initiatives.
Works closely with CTL, CMLS, BU’s, Functions and Carriers to: identify reporting and process opportunities, understand issues and be responsible for leveraging best practices, identifying and implementing improvements and participating in all aspects of project development.
40% Drive innovation and improvements in the reporting area, this includes: development of new reports, participation in I/T projects, as well as sustainment and improvement of existing reports. This includes all steps from inception, requirements gathering, development, testing and deployment. Facilitate coordination of Cargill I/T and software vendor resources as needed. Identify opportunities for improvement through continuously building an understanding of the data and reporting needs of the transportation business as well as understanding the strategic needs of CTL and its place within Tartan.
30% Provide excellent support of reports through utilizing problem solving skills, collaboration with Cargill technology teams and software vendors to resolve complex issues. Provide training to support staff skills to enable their abilities to provide first level support to users. Extract and analyze support data metrics to drive down frequency of reoccurring system issues.
20% Build knowledge of Transportation systems and leverage it to assist team with general system support issues.

Bachelors Degree preferably in Information Systems or Business
Minimum of 3 years experience in business intelligence or data management
Minimum of 3 years experience using Business Intelligence tools (Business Objects or Cognos preferred)
Knowledge of SQL and other query languages for problem investigation and report development
Intermediate level of proficiency with Crystal Reports
Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables) and Microsoft Access
Ability to understand and analyze data
Broad understanding, demonstration, and creative use of standard technologies in developing or supporting business reports
Ability to work successfully in both a team environment and also independently
Strong problem resolution, analysis, and service skills
Ability to manage & prioritize multiple tasks to assure timely completion in a fluid environment
Results driven with the ability to work in a fast paced work environment, in addition to showing demonstrated initiative
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing systems and controls on a continual basis
Advanced degree in a related field
3 years or more experience which should include project development, system support, change leadership, process development, etc.
2 years or more experience in extracting, transforming and loading data from multiple systems
Advanced knowledge of SQL and other query languages for reporting and problem investigation
Technical aptitude needed to understand architectures, data traffic and navigate technical tools.
Ability to assess risks and controls, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement changes.
