Atkins seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our Tallahassee staff as a Transportation Design Civil Engineer II.

MAJOR ROLE/FUNCTION:
Atkins is currently seeking an engineer for our Tallahassee Transportation Design Group with experience in all stages of the roadway design process to work under the supervision of a Senior Engineer. General duties shall include the development and design of transportation projects on local and state roadways. Engineer shall be responsible for the preparation of design concepts, plans, reports, specifications, estimates and construction documents; as well as the coordination with team members, clients, agency staff, and other disciplines in the production of the above listed tasks.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 3-5 years of qualifying transportation engineering experience
  • E.I. or EIT is required, and PE preferred
  • Proficiency and expertise using Microstation and Geopak software
  • Proficiency using design manuals including, but not limited to: FDOT Design Standards, PPM, MUTCD, Florida Green Book, AASHTO Design Manual, Standard Specifications
  • Experience with local and state permitting regulations
  • Proficiency developing Signing & Pavement Marking plans and sign design (using GuidSIGN software)
  • Proficiency using FDOT SiteMenu and Electronic Delivery software
  • Experience with Maintenance of Traffic production
  • Utility Coordination involvement
  • Shall perform field observations of construction where appropriate
  • Interact with local and state agencies through all phases of design
  • Experience in Quantity Computation and Cost Estimating
  • Report to supervisor on project status and remaining work effort for associated tasks
  • Florida candidates preferred
  • FDOT experience
