Transportation Engineer III (0117)/Assistant Agreements Coordinator
RECRUITMENT: The State Highway Administration (SHA) Office of Planning and Preliminary Engineering (OPPE) (Baltimore City) is recruiting for a one-year, contractual appointment as a Transportation Engineer III. This recruitment is OPEN to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications at the time of the closing date. *Please note that we have two contractual positions available.
SALARY: $44,600-$70,048 CLOSING DATE: February 15, 2013

NATURE OF WORK: This contractual position will function as the Assistant Agreements Coordinator for OPPE. As such, this position assists in drafting, negotiating, revising, executing and post-execution monitoring of third-party agreements/memoranda of understanding among SHA, private developers, other state agencies, county and local governments. Candidates should have a working knowledge of both Word and Excel, good oral communication skills, and the ability to work with a variety of internal and external customers. A background in one or more of the following would be beneficial: Construction, Right-of-Way, Finance. Knowledge of COMAR is also helpful.
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two years experience in professional engineering.
1. Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
2. Possession of a Master's Degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
3. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
