Transportation Engineer Manager I (0515) (SP# 13-83-10)

RECRUITMENT: (OPEN) The State Highway Administration District 3 (Prince George's County) is recruiting for a Transportation Engineer Manager I position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications* listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy, and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification in District 3 (Prince George's County).

NATURE OF WORK: The main purpose of this position is to assist the Assistant District Engineer - Traffic (ADE - T) with preparation and review of various traffic engineering studies, with recommendation(s) of engineering solutions to a wide range of complex and sensitive issues in an urban/rural setting. Responsibilities include representing the State Highway Administration's Traffic Division at numerous meetings, as well as functioning as liaison between the ADE-T, Office of Traffic and Safety, Highway Design, Construction, Maintenance, Project Planning, Bridge Design, Access Permits, Materials and Research, and Engineering Systems; managing the Fund 30, 76, 87 program for operations, safety, and congested intersection improvements respectively; and assigning, reviewing, and managing traffic engineering work performed by staff members.


EDUCATION: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Seven years experience in professional engineering, including one years of supervisory experience.

*SELECTIVE QUALIFICATION: Two (2) years experience in professional traffic engineering.

*A selective qualification recruitment is conducted for positions when there is a specific or additional bona fide occupational qualification (i.e., knowledge, skill or ability).

1. Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, maybe substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

2. Possession of a Master's Degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the non-supervisory experience.

3. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES: Employees in this class may be required to possess a
Professional Engineer, Land Surveyor, or Property Line Surveyor. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess
a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland with less than four (4) points.
