The East Carolina University Department of Surgery and Division of Trauma and the Center of Excellence for Trauma and Surgical Critical Care seeks applicants to fill the position of Acute Care Surgeon at the level of Assistant Professor. Tenure track may be available to qualified applicants.
Join seven academic acute care surgeons participating in the trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery components of the acute care surgery service
Work at Vidant Medical Center, an ACS verified level 1 University Trauma Center
Vidant Medical Center is an 909-bed facility affiliated with East Carolina University
Vidant Medical Center provides tertiary care for population of 1.5 million in Eastern NC
Service evaluates 3,000 trauma patients annually
Manages 32-bed SICU
Clinical research is available and encouraged
Teaching opportunities exist for medical students, surgical and emergency medicine residents, and surgical critical care and trauma fellows
ACS Division includes an ECGME-accredited surgical critical fellowship and an AAST-accredited ACS fellowship
Applicants should be board certified in general surgery and have completed a surgical critical care or acute care surgery fellowship and be either board certified or eligible in surgical critical care. Candidates with less than 5 years of experience with a special interest in research are desired. Current surgical critical care/and or acute care surgery fellows are encouraged to apply!
