Position Title: Tutor I - Project Raise (Part-Time) (Multiple Positions Available)
Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Tutor I - Project Raise is responsible for tutoring students enrolled in Learning Support Mathematics courses and working as part of the Project RAISE team to assist students and faculty in effective use of mastery based software, the math lab and other GPC resources. The position requires GPA of 3.0 in intended major, successful completion of all freshmen level courses including College Algebra, good communication skills, computer literacy and a willingness to work with others and complete on-the-job training.
No experience is necessary.
A minimum of 12-15 semester hours of college level credit, successful completion of freshmen level courses including College Algebra, GPA of at least 3.0 in discipline courses.
- Ability to work with faculty, staff and students.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal, listening and communication skills are required.
- Exceptional ability to convey personal knowledge of subject matter to students in a fundamental and supportive manner.
- Familiarity with mastery based software such as ALEKS or MyMathLab.
Position requires local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Job takes place in normal environmental conditions.

Position will require non-standard work-hours (nights and weekends). Though working hours may be flexible, scheduling will be based primarily on the scheduling needs of the students enrolled in Learning Support Mathematics. Candidates desiring morning through afternoon hours will be considered; however, strong preference will be given to qualified applicants who are available evening, afternoon, and weekend hours.
