Educational Requirements: BA Degree required/ prior tutoring experience
preferred
Reports to: School
Based Program Director
Salary: 6
hours week/ $25 per hour
Job Description: Responsibilities:
Provide Regents Test Prep. for select H.S. students in the areas of English or Math in Queens/Brooklyn (during afterschool hours)
Develop and implement student-centered, interactive, hands-on experiential learning activities in the area of English or Math
Utilize progressive, creative, and innovative methods and instruction models to teach the content area in ways that enable students to make connections across the curricula
Provide differentiated instruction to allow for the various learning styles among students
Set and maintain standards for classroom behavior
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to communicate these objectives to students
Monitor student attendance and participation in program
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
Accumulate specialized materials for outside reading and homework
Provide homework assistance as needed in English or Math
Skill Requirements:
1-2 years H.S. tutoring experience preferred
Must have strong verbal, written, interpersonal and critical thinking skills
Must be creative and outgoing
