SPELMAN COLLEGE TENURE-TRACK POSITION ASSISTANT PROFESSOR U.S. AMERICAN and AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY
Spelman College seeks teachers/scholars dedicated to excellence in teaching and to the continued enhancement of the scholarly environment for students and colleagues. Founded in 1881, Spelman College is a private four-year liberal arts college located in Atlanta, GA. The oldest historically Black college for women in the United States, Spelman is a member of the Atlanta University Center Consortium and Atlanta Regional Consortium for Higher Education. All tenure-track candidates are expected to have a demonstrated interest in liberal arts and sciences education, be able to contribute effectively to undergraduate teaching, aid in curriculum development, provide service to the department and College, as well as be active in scholarly, creative, and/or research productivity appropriate to a liberal arts environment. The Department of History invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in U.S. and African American History, beginning August 2013. Candidates should have a sub-field specialization in either Women’s History, Foreign Policy, and /or Constitutional History. Qualifications: Ph.D. required; teaching and post-doctoral training preferred. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until December 3, 2012.
