Change.org is seeking a highly experienced professional to join our U.S. campaigns team as a Senior Campaigner. The U.S. Senior Campaigner will be a member of a U.S. campaigns team working with other campaigners, email specialists, and communications managers -- crafting and executing rapid-response campaigns and inspiring millions of people to start and win their own campaigns for positive social change.
You could spend one day working with Boy Scouts and den leaders who convinced the Boy Scouts of America to allow openly gay Scouts to serve, and the next helping U.S. veterans fighting to obtain visas for interpreters who served with them in Afghanistan, and who now face threats from the Taliban.
As a U.S. Senior Campaigner, here’s some of the work you’ll do:
Identify, design, and execute rapid-response social change advocacy campaigns with the potential for explosive growth and swift victories.
Work with a team of crackerjack campaigners, media, and email experts to support the people who start petitions on our platform -- providing strategic advice, conducting media outreach, and promoting them across the web and to our members via email.
Contribute to your team’s success measurements and lessons learned to ensure organization-wide skill building and best practices.
Build and maintain relationships with organizations, activists, and community members in key issue areas to facilitate the use of our platform for social change.
Collaborate with a global team of campaigners to identify opportunities for creating effective grassroots campaigns that win measurable social change around the world and build global communities of learning with shared wisdom and experience on campaigning best practices.
Here's a little bit more about skills and qualities we're looking for:
A deep commitment to our mission of empowering people everywhere to win campaigns on the critical issues of our times.
Proven track record of identifying, designing, and winning massive national campaigns with online and on the ground tactics.
Keen understanding of the U.S. media landscape and how to work within it to highlight important issues.
A strong grasp of politics, the political process, and current social change issues within the U.S. and globally.
A keen understanding of the news cycle, and an eye toward reading the news with a lense toward social change and the power of storytelling and narrative.
Deep experience with online organizing tactics including email and social media.
Trust in numbers -- knowing how to measure your success and how to set up your work so that it’s measurable.
Experience working within diverse and marginalized communities, and a proven track record of success in bringing these issues to the fore in the public discourse.
A willingness to take risks, fail, and adapt.
Strong sense of fun, innovation, and give-and-take -- our team is constantly pushing the envelope and each other to challenge assumptions, go all-in, and imagine the impossible.
3-5 years of experience as a leader on major national campaigns.
Project Management Skills -- this job requires timely and decisive project prioritization and resource allocation.
