UF Anesthesiology Administrator-
The incumbent in this position reports to the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and serves as the department’s primary administrator. Responsibilities include directing and managing the administrative, fiscal (approximately $42 million budget), grant, and marketing/business planning activities of the department in support of advancing the College of Medicine’s (COM) clinical service, education, and research missions. The incumbent also reports to the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Shands at the University of Florida (SUF), the primary teaching hospital for the University of Florida’s College of Medicine, and serves as the primary administrator for the hospital’s anesthesiology programs. In both of these roles, the incumbent has substantial managerial responsibility and requires a broad range of skills and the exercise of considerable judgment and initiative.
Position Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years related experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of relevant experience.
The position requires inquisitiveness, initiative, judgment, self-management, anticipation of problems, and analytical problem-solving abilities. A strong background in financial and program management is required. Financial decisions and commitments incumbent on the position will have far-reaching effects on the future financial position and strength of the department and UFP. The ability to deal with people individually and in-group situations is essential in order to adequately support the department chair in all activities of the department and the hospital. The position has significant influence on the success of all activities of the department and the hospital.
