PART I - General Job / Performance InformationEducation and Experience High School diploma or G.E.D. Three (3) years experience in working in hospital central stores/sterile supply or equivalent is required.
Environmental / Working Conditions The area the work is performed in is a high risk for exposure to blood born pathogens. Works in a well lighted heated and ventilated building. May vary to accommodate needs in the department as prescribed by the philosophy of the hospital.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships Close relationship with Purchasing Department and Distributor under contract, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Patient Accounting and Information Systems. Will require working with OR staff and physicians.
Job Description Plans, supervises, evaluates and orders routine and special supplies, equipment and instruments. In compliance with the Philosophy of UMC, will be responsible for operations of materials to insure quality patient care, competent and responsible personnel management and cost efficient and effective utilization of unit resources.

Physical Capabilities Work is of medium demand; walking, sitting and standing most of the time while on duty. Adequate hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills required. Talking and hearing is essential in placing orders and communicating with department personnel. Near visual acuity required to work with computer and paper work.
Skills and AbilitiesUnderstanding of materials management as related to inventory, purchasing, and delivery of supplies. Understanding of accounting as applicable to materials management. Computer skills required.
