PART I - General Job / Performance Information
Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant School and has a current license from the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners as well as Advanced Practice Recognition. Critical care and/or emergency center experience desired.
Environmental / Working Conditions
This position is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions, not necessarily from temperature changes.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position requires close interaction with other ancillary departments in order to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
Provides Medical Screening Examination, initiates appropriate medical care and manages the disposition of patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician.
Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
Current recognition by the Texas State Board of Medical examiners as having the specialized education and training required under the Texas Medical Practice Licensing Act and the Texas Physicians Assistant Act.
Visual and auditory acuity required continuously. The ability to speak is required frequently. The ability to sit for extended periods is required frequently. Lifting/carrying requirements are light but may occur moderately. The ability to walk/transport oneself in a timely manner is required frequently.
Skills and Abilities
Must maintain the same competencies as required of the clinical staff in the Emergency Center/Minor Care/Triage setting. Current knowledge of triage process and related regulatory standards appropriate for the area of responsibility (i.e. JCAHO, TDH, etc) Must demonstrate a working knowledge of leadership and management skills.
