The purpose of this position is to lead the underwriting audit process as the property / casualty product expert for all Client Groups within Specialty Markets. In addition, this position would be responsible for ensuring that a consistent approach is being implemented within Specialty Markets as respects property/casualty risk underwriting across Client Groups. A key responsibility of this position would be to support account teams in the drafting of Underwriting Guidelines for our primary companies, such as AAIC and PESLIC.

Establish, in conjunction with the Chief Underwriting Officer and Client Groups, the scope of underwriting reviews. The scope of each review will be customized to the business type.

Lead both formal and informal underwriting reviews, focusing on areas agreed upon in the account scope audit parameters. Participate in Due Diligence reviews.

The focus of underwriting reviews will include, but not be limited to, compliance with Underwriting Guidelines or other factors contributing to the volatility of the book of business, expertise of the underwriting staff, quality of risk selection, compliance with AAIC or PESLIC Underwriting Guidelines or coverage documents, comprehensiveness of information development and document analysis, pricing procedures, adequacy of underwriting controls and compliance with Munich Re Underwriting Directives.

Serve as the Line of Business expert to support SM Underwriting Managers and SM CUO in the overall underwriting management of program business. This responsibility will encompass handling individual risk referrals for Underwriting Managers, which includes having the underwriting proxy for the SM Chief Property Underwriter or SM Chief Casualty Underwriter on program renewals outside of the Underwriting Manager’s authority.

In conjunction with Client Groups, implement audit recommendations.

Conduct training both internally and as complement for our program administrator clients.

Minimum of seven years Property/Casualty risk underwriting experience including project management capabilities.

Effective leadership ability in the area of demonstrating initiative and drive toward a goal, business acumen, and developing productive relationships with others.

Minimum of seven years primary property/casualty underwriting experience

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to meet target dates.

Ability to travel 60% - 80%.
