IT - Network Operations
Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a mid-to-senior level system
administrator with experience in administrating customer-facing servers. Focus areas
include administration of various open source software / solutions, scripting /
automation, application debugging, and support internally developed tools. The ideal
candidate will understand the inner workings of Linux, exhibit a high attention
to detail, and adjust quickly to an ever-changing and evolving environment. If you

Troubleshoot complex hardware / software problems.
Work with global peers and development teams to resolve
customer-facing application issues.
Assist in designing new infrastructure solutions / improvements,
provide proof of concept evaluations, test new hardware technologies, and
provide purchase recommendations.
Help plan and initiate future growth of data center, network,
and other infrastructure systems.
Participate in large scale site deployments, upgrades, and

A solid understanding of UNIX-based operating systems,
especially enterprise level Linux distributions, including system installation /
configuration, file system concepts, resource monitoring, user administration,
kernel tuning, package management, and process control / management
Strong understanding of networking principles and
applications / technologies which makes the inter-tubes run (e.g., TCP / UDP
protocols, DNS, DHCP, HTTP services)
Knowledge of SAN and NAS principles, experience deploying
and maintaining various storage solutions
Able to write scripts in an administrative language (e.g., Python,
Perl, Bash, PowerShell) with in-depth knowledge in at least one
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to train
users in complex topics, provide presentations to an internal audience, write
documentation, and interact positively with and receive direction from upper
Understanding of enterprise-level Windows operating systems
A minimum of 3 years’ system administration experience with
an emphasis in managing customer-facing applications and services
Able to travel
A passion for video games
Significant programming background in any applicable
Hands-on experience with large-scale hardware deployment
Experience with virtualization
Experience with blade server technologies
A degree in computer science or a related field
