Title: US Cotton and Specialty Crop Cost Analyst

Description

The US Cotton and Specialty Crop Cost Analyst role provides significant direction and support to the North American Cotton and Specialty Crop leadership teams. This role has ownership of the US Cotton and Specialty Crop cost accounting, inventory reporting and strategic analysis. The role also leads the manufacturing annual budget/LRP and Corporate Balance Sheet Review process for Specialty Crops. Within that scope, this role is responsible for:

Responsibilities:

· Accountable for overall finance and accounting support for US Cotton, Sorghum, Alfalfa, Winter Canola, and Wheat.

· Lead cost management review process for Cotton, Sorghum, Alfalfa, Winter Canola, and Wheat.

· Provide support for Commercial Business, Commercial Finance, Manufacturing leadership and several production sites.

· Maintain & update Specialty Crop cost models with latest cost results and estimates and reflect management assumptions and crop team decisions to ensure accurate cost forecast and drive for better budget & LRP process.

· Lead the preparation of monthly COGs and related balance sheet forecasts, annual budgets and LRPs, working closely with seed supply team and commercial business team.

· Frequent interaction with Commercial and Controllership teams to ensure financials appropriately reflect the business results in compliance with accounting policies and procedures and responsible for cost variance analysis & inventory analysis, and drive for efficient closing and reconciliations process.

· Provide business analysis support for seed supply team projects, including various ad-hoc analyses, valuation & modeling as necessary to analyze and verify business assumptions, cost drivers, and margin contribution.

· Ownership of US Cotton and Specialty Crop annual physical inventory process.

· Support external and internal audit for SOX, inventory, and financial audits, and bi-annual Inventory Balance Sheet review.

· Periodic visits to plant facilities to educate plant staff on cost management tools & report on plant performance, and participate in annual physical inventory process. Provide support to plants on financial-related questions and issues, ensuring proper accounting controls, policies and documentation are maintained, evaluate cost savings opportunities and leverage areas to improve cost position, including supporting plant’s six sigma project and financial valuation.

· Contribute to system enhancements to enable better reporting & analysis on inventory, cost, and production support, and provide guidance, leadership and innovation for continuous process improvements and drive for efficiencies and optimization of overall seed manufacturing finance support, utilizing new system functionalities.

· Perform closing duties regarding Cost of Goods Sold and Inventory for US Cotton and Specialty Crops.

· Be an active partner in process improvements for the North America Seed Supply Finance team and the Global Seed and Trait Analysis team.

· Lead annual Corporate Balance Sheet review for Specialty Crops.

Required Skills:

Qualifications/Competencies:

· Bachelor's degree in a business related major, preferably Finance or Accounting with 5+ years experience.

· Knowledge of SAP, ARC, and Hyperion financial systems.

· Knowledge of US GAAP, solid accounting skills, and understanding of corporate policies.

· Results Oriented - Autonomous and self-driven with an 'act as owner' mentality.

· Communication - Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate finance concepts to non finance individuals.

· Technical skills - candidate needs to be very strong from an operational/process perspective as well as possess solid financial analytical and modeling skills.

· Strategic thinking and problem solving skills.
