JOB SUMMARY: PG 19
Performs routine semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of utility lines and associated equipment. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of supervisory personnel or a Lead Utility Service Worker.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Constructs, repairs, and maintains manholes.

Digs ditches, unloads pipe, and patches street.

Eliminates sewer blockages.

Obtains proper tools, equipment, supplies, and materials and hands to senior personnel.

Spots mains and lines.

Operates dump truck, knuckle-boom truck, sewer vacuum truck, and hydra-jet.

Cleans pipes and operates TV video equipment with NASCO format and related equipment.

All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. (Educational documentation will be required upon offer of employment.) One year of progressively responsible experience performing utility maintenance work. Computer skills are preferred.

Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Testing for reading comprehension and basic workplace math calculations, will be administered prior to an interview and/or job offer. TABE test passing score of 8.0.

Must respond to all emergency work call-outs beyond his or her assigned shift.

Licenses and Certifications :
Possession of or ability to obtain a Florida Driver License upon offer of employment.
Possession of or ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 6 months off employment.

Offers of transfers or promotion to current ECUA employees are not subject to nicotine screening. All applicants are subject to physical assessments as required by job.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to engage in manual labor for extended periods of time, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

The incumbent's working conditions are typically moderately quiet, but may be loud for limited durations while working with power tools, equipment, or machinery following all prescribed safety rules and regulations.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Various Power and Hand Tools, Light Truck, Knuckle-boom Truck, Backhoe, Sewer Vacuum Truck, and Hydra-Jet Truck.

Use, operation, and care of tools and equipment of the trade.

Skill in :
Use of power and hand tools and specialized equipment.

Abilities :
Use hand and power tools.
Operate specialized tools and equipment.
Operate a truck or other motor vehicle.
