Serve as a member of the United Technologies Research Center'sUTRC International Trade Compliance (ITC) Group with responsibility for contributing to the proactive development and implementation of strategies, processes, standard work, work instructions, and training to ensure UTRC's ongoing compliance with all export laws, regulations and UTC/UTRC's policies related to the export of technology, technical data, commodities (including products and parts), software, and services (items). The ITC Technology Manager will actively participate in ACE process improvement activities led by the ITC Group and will help develop common process approaches for use by all UTRC organizations and disciplines, including in the areas of classification, organization of export classification information for shared use to minimize/eliminate redundant classifications, record keeping, technical data marking, export licensing applications, and other areas.

Significantly, the selected candidate will interact with UTRC to understand UTC's products, technology, software, and services (including third party items) and to assist the organizations with determining the export classification and export authority for exporting those items. The ITC Technology Manager will provide internal customer and Business Area Export Representative (BAER) day-to-day guidance in this and all other export compliance subject matter areas. The selected candidate will also coordinate with UTRC to help develop, implement, and manage tailored export compliance systems, processes, and procedures using ACE tools. This includes contributing to the strategic identification of compliance risks, conducting risk assessments, and assisting with the development of plans to eliminate and/or mitigate risks.

Successful execution of these responsibilities will require advanced training in export control laws, regulations, and policies; cross-functional leadership and support of UTRC BAERs; close and frequent coordination with UTRC's organization responsible for ensuring export compliance; and strong project management of a variety of export compliance related initiatives and work efforts.

As a member of the ITC Group, the ITC Technology Manager will assist group members with projects and daily activities as necessary, including with the preparation of Commerce and State Department export license applications and agreements as required to support UTRC and their international programs. The selected candidate will also help maintain and revise both desk and company procedures related to export compliance, assist with editing and maintaining appropriate export compliance website content, provide one-on-one export compliance guidance to internal UTRC customers, and help develop and conduct UTRC export training.

Engineering or Technical BS Degree with 6-10+ yrs of experience Engineering or Technical MS Degree with 4-7 yrs of experience.

Qualifications include a demonstrated in-depth understanding of UTRC's business objectives and strategic missions. Familiarity with U.S. export and import regulations including, but not limited to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and U.S. Customs regulations.

Candidate must have excellent analytical, project management, interpersonal, leadership, and verbal and written communication skills. Must be a team player, possess multi-tasking abilities, have a client focus, and work effectively in a time sensitive environment.
