Position Overview:
The purpose of this position is to provide assistance and supportive patient care to meet the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas. Performs a variety of imaging procedures, specializing in all modalities of Ultrasound Imaging. Procedures will require independent judgment in ingenuity to produce optimum visualization of anatomic structures. Responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first interface with the patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide supportive patient care to assist the nurses and physicians in meeting the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas
Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric
shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients
Practice medical and surgical aseptic procedures
Assess patient’s understanding of process and informed consent of invasive procedures
Perform all quality control checks, as prescribed
Maintain accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
Perform highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination; documents and deviation
Understand and practice proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer’s instruction
Provide care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and general
population
Acquaint with local fire and safety regulations
Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures
Interact professionally with patient/family
Assist in training ancillary personnel
Assist in maintaining PACS
Collect, report and document data related to patient needs/emergencies and unusual patient and family behavior
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times
Provide and maintain a clean, safe environment and performs and/or assists others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures, and infection control measures
Adhere to internal controls established for the department
Meet dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean
Other Job Functions:
Perform other related duties as required
Assist the healthcare team by preparing patients, as well as during examinations, or assists with other patient treatments
Maintain patient care areas with appropriate supplies
Basic Qualifications:
A minimum of a High School Diploma
Must be a graduate of a school accredited by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
Must have a valid driver’s license
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
The willingness and ability to work overtime hours as needed on an on-call schedule
