Education: Successful completion of a school of Ultrasound Technology that results in ultrasound registry eligibility.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification: Must be certified in Ultrasound Technology by the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) or the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) - Sonography
or
Must obtain Ultrasound certification from the ARDMS or the ARRT within one year of graduation from an ultrasound program.
and
Must at all times maintain Ultrasound certification from the ARDMS or the ARRT.

Basic Purpose:

Provides quality care to patients undergoing ultrasound procedures. Demonstrates full knowledge of ultrasound procedures and equipment. This position serves the following patient age categories: neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, adult, and geriatric.

2. Relationship Based Model of Care

Each employee of MCHS participates in a delivery model of patient care in which the patient and family are the central focus. Using the Relationship Based Care Model the nurse and other health care team members strive to understand what is most important to the individual patient, and actively engage them in all aspects of care.
Employees are required to maintain a culture that supports caring and healing. Employees focus on relationships to maintain the caring culture. The three relationships of focus are relationship with patients, colleagues and with self.

MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:
1. Completes procedures following approved procedure protocols.
2. Completes required documentation.
3. Transports patients to/from department.
4. Provides instruction and guidance for staff and students

Must possess full and complete knowledge of diagnostic radiology procedures, including related anatomy, physiology, and clinical positioning skills.

Must possess full verbal and visual communication skills and ability to evaluate and appropriately respond to verbal and non-verbal communication from patients in diverse stages of development, i.e. neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Must have full use of upper and lower extremities.

Must be able to respond to multiple requests and prioritize effectively.
