He/she demonstrates knowledge of processes and related systems in order to effectively perform their responsibilities. He/she solve problems by precedent and reference detailed instructions and procedural documents, escalating issues and seeking advice when faced with complex issues and problems.
Positioning / Staging mortgage loan file applications in accordance to investor guideline criteria, State & Federal Regulatory Requirements, and Internal Credit Policy. Recognize 1003 and interpret for seasoning, tenure in employment; addt'l property ownership; recognize and analyze debts, assets. Ability to review credit report; determining qualifying credit score; analyzing adverse credit, types of credit accounts, number of inquiries prior to loan submission. Ability to recognize standard income documents; paystubs, W-2's, and award letters; ability to determine qualifying income and standard deductions for salaried, seasonal, bonus, overtime, and fixed income borrowers. Ability to interpret a single family appraisal report for validity, red flags, accepted variances in comparables. Ability to interpret Asset statements, including but not limited to, bank statements, 401k statements, and broker statements for deposit patterns, lump sums, direct deposits and deductions, and available funds.
• Minimum 1 year Underwriting or 4 years mortgage processing experience.
• High school diploma.
4 year degree in finance or accounting preferred.
Previous experience with financial statements and A/R and A/P schedules is a plus
Professional Skill Requirements:
• Experience with and knowledge of property and credit underwriting requirements of FNMA, FHLMC, and private mortgage insurance companies.
• Ability to effectively make decisions in an independent manner and availability as a resource advisor for all staff.
• Good analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills needed.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Outlook.
• Knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements.
