SUMMARY: Underwrites small business loans, in compliance with financial institution policies and procedures. Represents the bank with professionalism both on the job and within the community by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Receive loan request packages, reviews package to ensure sufficient financial information is supplied, analyze financial data to develop cash flow and debt service to determine a coverage ratio.
• Analyze the request to determine the most beneficial structure, rate and fee.
• Approve or recommend approval of structure, collateral, maximum loan to value, and conditions of approval to include any third party services that may be required.
• Communicate with the originating account officer terms and conditions of the approval.
• Follows and documents bank policy exceptions, ensures various codes associated with the credit are correct and documented for compliance purposes to include but not limited to Loss Share, CRA, PAPI, Insider Codes.
• Reviews developing laws and regulations as they apply to small business lending practices.
• Provides reports to management on the status of departmental statistics regarding financial institution loan products. Offers recommendations and actions to improve loan strategies when necessary.

Become knowledgeable regarding the department's internal controls as outlined in the policies and procedures and comply with all control requirements.

COMPLIANCE
Ability to comprehend and adhere to Federal and State banking regulations, Company policies and procedures, and successfully participate in regulatory and Company training requirements via multiple and variable delivery methods.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in business, finance, or a related area; or five (5) or more years related experience and/or training in a financial institution, loan department, or similar area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of consumer and small business lending practices and related areas.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze and problem-solve
• Word and Excel or other spreadsheet experience necessary
• Excellent communication skills are necessary and the ability to effectively interact with all levels of bank management.

The employee must occasionally bend, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (computer work).
